Story
For over six hundred million years I have been wandering on planet earth. Suddenly, during the "Ancient Greek Period" people like Hippocrates, Zezzos, Pliny among others, used me for medical purposes. I could heal whooping cough and gastric ulcers among other things. Hey, I was even the symbol of the drug stores!

As time passed by people thought of me as a delicious food, and as a result, I don't have much family left in Europe!. Then in 1980 a family adopted me, fed me, gave me a beautiful place to live, away from all pesticides. They also adopted others like me and we became one "Great Big Happy Family". These kind folks are the Bascuñan Family. As they nursed us snails they noticed the softness of their hands..- by the way, they have great hands today! Minor cuts to their hands from our cages healed quickly without leaving infections or scars

The eldest son of this family is a doctor, his name is Dr. Fernando Bascuñan Ygualt. My mentor. He conducted a rigorous scientific study of the Chilean snail "Helix Aspersa Müller"..- that's me! His study confirmed that my extract had healing capabilities on human skin.

The Bascuñan family's next step was to patent and protect their product ELICINA ®. Authorization was granted by the World Organization of Patents of Invention, in Switzerland. Finally I was famous without getting killed.
Fifteen years later ELICINA ®. was launched very successfully into the Chilean market in January of 1995.
Today ELICINA ®. continues to be a family company. It is sold all over Chile and its exportations have increased to other parts of South America, to the U.S.A. and Europe

Laboratory
The Bascuñan family has adopted over 10.000 of us already. They have a qualified staff of personnel that maintain our cages on a daily basis in the best conditions of humidity, temperature, hygiene and nutrition. They don't use any chemicals so it is as similar as can be to our natural environment

By means of a process secretly kept by the Bascuñan family, the extract is obtained from me. I assure you this is a safe process for us snails
My extract, similar to a serum, is sent to the Cosmetic Pharmaceutical Laboratory, Lacofar Ltd. Chile, who is responsible in conducting the microbiological and bacteriological tests that are also required by the Chilean Health Authorities.

Concluding these analyses, Lacofar Ltd. proceeds in mixing my 80% extract with the 20% excipients, in order to submit the final product to new tests of stability. Finally ELICINA ®. is bottled, packed and ready to be distributed to its different markets, making me famous all around the world.
